Dresses are fantastic garments. Instead of worrying about matching different pieces, you can simply put on a dress and you’re good to go! However, if you’re someone who gets bored of an outfit quickly, you might find dresses harder to mix and match.
But actually, there are plenty of ways to keep your dresses feeling fresh and new. Here are some ideas to help you remix your dresses:
1. Add a (Different) Belt
A belt can completely change the look of a dress. If your dress already comes with a belt, try swapping it out for a different one. For example, I had a red silk dress that needed to be toned down for a casual event. Using a different belt worked perfectly.

Wearing a dress over pants is another great option. This trick works well, especially with shorter dresses that you might feel are too short otherwise. I love this look and often pair my green and purple dresses with pants.
3. Layer Over Another Dress or Skirt
This works best if you have two dresses of different lengths. It’s a great way to continue wearing shorter dresses that you may not want to wear on their own anymore.

Though I don’t use this trick often, adding a scarf can give your dress a completely different vibe.
5. Top It Off
Layer a jumper, shirt, or jacket over your dress. Start experimenting with what you already have in your closet. Keep in mind that not all jackets and tops will work with every dress, but bulky sweaters can be a trendy option for winter.
6. Change Your Shoes
Different shoes can totally transform a dress. Classic pumps give a chic, timeless look, while trendy booties make it modern and edgy. Don’t be afraid to try shoes you wouldn’t normally pick.
7. Add a Hat
A hat can add style, sophistication, or even fun to your outfit. This tip is perfect if your dress feels a bit too plain and needs a little something extra.
8. Wear Statement Jewelry
Bold jewelry can also make a big difference. Pair a classic dress with a standout necklace for an interesting combination.
9. Switch Up Your Bag
The bag you choose can change your dress’s look completely. Experiment with structured and soft bags in various colors to see what works best.
