As part of the “Finding Your Style” series, I’ve talked before about the Style Statement and how it can help you pinpoint your personal style. I’ve recently bought the book and made it halfway through, so here’s a little update.
What Exactly Is a Style Statement?
A style statement helps you understand your personal style more clearly. Written by Carrie McCarthy and Danielle LaPorte, the book “Style Statement – Live by Your Own Design” aims to provide insight into your authentic self and sense of style. A style statement defines who you really are, acting as a guide for making choices that reflect your true self. It’s more about discovering yourself than just labeling.
How Can You Benefit From Knowing Your Style Statement?
Knowing your style statement helps you align your style choices with your inner self. This alignment can boost your confidence, reduce shopping mistakes, and let you communicate your true self more clearly. You’ll feel more comfortable in your clothes, home, and environment and become more consistent and effective in your life.
How Do You Find Your Style Statement?
The goal is to find two words that best describe you. The first word captures your core essence (80%), while the second word reflects your creative edge (20%)—the impression or experience you like to create.
To find these words, you need to explore various aspects of your life using a lifestyle map, which includes:
– Home and things
– Fashion and sensuality
– Spirit and learning
– Service and wealth
– Relationships and communication
– Creativity and celebration
– Body and wellness
– Nature and relaxation
As you answer questions related to these themes, you’ll notice recurring words and patterns. Analyzing these answers will lead you to your style statement.
