Effortlessly Stylish in Blue Jeans and Flats

Effortlessly Stylish in Blue Jeans and Flats

I’m not sure if I’ve ever shared a picture of me wearing jeans on this blog, mainly because I hardly wear jeans in Singapore. During holidays, though, I wear them a lot more, so you might spot me in jeans more often in the coming months. Some readers suggested that I post a jeans look, so here it is.

The main reason I don’t wear jeans often is that they feel too hot in Singapore’s climate. I usually prefer casual dresses or light cotton pants and like to dress up a bit when I go out. Working from home, I dress very casually—like in shorts and singlets—to stay comfortable in the heat, so I like to put in a bit more effort when I step outside.

Another reason I don’t wear jeans frequently is that I don’t think they flatter my figure much. I have a flat bum and it’s hard to find jeans that make it look good. Plus, I find shopping for jeans really boring, so I hardly ever spend time searching for the perfect pair.

I found these jeans a few years ago. I liked the dark color and the bootleg cut, and they had the right amount of stretch. They were also long enough to wear with mid-high heels, although here I’m wearing them with flats, which isn’t ideal. The fit might not be perfect and they are a bit loose, but I prioritize comfort. I tried a smaller size, which looked great and fit nicely, but it was uncomfortable. I’ve learned that if clothes aren’t comfortable, I won’t wear them, no matter how good they look. So, I opted for the looser, more comfortable version.

I’m sure I’d wear jeans more often if I still lived in Europe. I think jeans can look incredibly stylish when paired with a nice blouse, jacket, or funky top. The look I’m sharing today is quite casual, just worn with a t-shirt, but at least the t-shirt is fun and colorful, making the outfit a bit more interesting.

For my future jeans, I think I’ll stick with dark shades, as I believe women over 40 look best in dark jeans. So, my next pair will probably be a completely dark blue without faded areas or crumples. I’ll likely go for the bootleg cut again because it’s elegant and looks great with a small heel, adding length to the legs. However, I won’t be shopping specifically for jeans; I find it more exciting to look for new and creative clothes with interesting ideas, colors, and patterns!

So, how do you feel about blue jeans? Are they a staple in your wardrobe, or do you prefer dressier items?
