Here’s an update on my visit to the London Olympics. Two days ago, I showed you the unusual black dress I wore on my first day in London, which I mostly spent walking around. This day was different because I had an event to attend: the women’s synchronized diving final!
On the way to the venue, the weather looked decent, but as you can see from the picture, dark clouds started to roll in. Soon enough, rain came pouring down on the Olympic Park, and we all had to find some shelter.
Luckily, my event was indoors. I had tickets to the women’s synchronized diving final at the Aquatics Center, which is just across from the Olympic Stadium. The place was packed (except for some empty VIP seats, of course!) and it was obvious that the Chinese team was unbeatable. Their dives were perfectly synchronized, as you can see from the photos.
Unsurprisingly, they clinched the championship, with the USA taking second place and Canada coming in third. The British team was disappointed with their seventh place finish. By the way, what do you think of the ceremonial outfits of the USA Olympians?
While we were inside enjoying the diving, there had been a storm outside. But by the time we stepped out, it had cleared up and the sun was shining again, which was perfect for snapping a few photos of my casual outfit that day. English weather is so unpredictable, so I wore several layers. I took off my cardigan for the photos to show you my new silk blouse from Zara, which I bought for 12 euros in Spain. It was such a great deal, though it hasn’t held up well with all the activity at the Olympics. It’s a shame because it would look great with simple black pants.
As you can tell, figuring out what to wear on holidays, especially when it’s chilly, is always a bit of a compromise. I also wore extra layers to stay warm, though I know I could have chosen better. (Another thing to shop for!) My hair is always a challenge in this weather, and when I see pictures like this, I feel like cutting it all off!
On another day, we visited the London Eye, where I wore the same comfy outfit again. I’ve promised myself to find a better-fitting and comfortable pair of jeans for my next trip, but for now, these will have to do.
The London Eye offers spectacular views of the city, including something unique to the London Olympics: the beach volleyball courts at Horse Guards Parade. I plan to visit there later in the week, so stay tuned for a full report!
And of course, we got a fantastic view of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.
That’s it for my second update from the Olympics. Stay tuned for my final report on Friday!
