Exploring your own country can be a lot of fun, so on a beautiful sunny day, my family and I decided to visit Volendam. This place is well-known for its charming old harbor and picturesque setting. However, it has become very touristy, so we had to venture off the beaten path to capture its original charm.
We found some pretty small canals and charming little houses, along with pull-up bridges that, though no longer in use, still look adorable. These spots provided a great backdrop for my outfit photos. I initially planned to wear a gray moto jacket, but I forgot it indoors since it was too warm.
My outfit for the day consisted of a fabulous skirt from Porto and a basic but versatile blouse from H&M. Accessories added texture and color to complete the look.
Feeling a bit disappointed with Volendam, we decided to visit nearby Edam, which is famous for its cheese. Edam is smaller and less touristy than Volendam, and in many ways, even prettier.
Edam has beautiful canals and bridges, historic houses, and lovely terraces where locals gather on sunny days. The cute cobblestone streets provide a nostalgic vibe, while the charming churches and old bridges add to its historic feel. The picturesque views are perfect for postcard-worthy photos.
Though Edam is tiny, I prefer it over Volendam and think it’s a great option for an afternoon trip if you’re visiting the Netherlands. It’s also conveniently close to Amsterdam.
