Glamorously Attired for Madonna's Concert in Amsterdam!

When I found out that Madonna would be performing in Amsterdam while I was visiting, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to see her live. Although I couldn’t get tickets for her first concert, I was lucky enough to snag some for the additional show on Sunday, July 8.

I wanted to dress up for the event, opting for a bright summer dress to avoid looking boring. Since it was a cold day, I wore it over skinny capris and paired it with some new, fancy shoes I had recently bought. The shoes have standout heels, which I plan to feature in future posts with better pictures.

I attended the concert with my 14-year-old niece, Nikki, who also wore some stylish (and high!) shoes for the occasion. Despite my efforts to dress up, the overall crowd at the concert was dressed very casually, and many looked quite plain. The audience was diverse, including a lot of women around my age, clearly longtime fans of Madonna.

The show was scheduled to start at 7:30 pm but the warm-up act, DJ Marin Solveig, didn’t begin until about 8:15 pm. He played popular dance tracks and some remixed Madonna songs. Madonna herself didn’t take the stage until 10 pm, by which time we were eagerly waiting for the entertainment to begin. The concert kicked off with theatrical elements exploring themes like religion, sex, and some violence, featuring songs from her latest album—which few in the audience seemed to know. Despite not being a fan of her latest work, the dramatic performances and dancers kept us engaged.

One of my favorite parts was her rendition of “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” which was beautifully executed. After performing songs from her new album, Madonna treated us to some of her classic hits, including “Vogue” and “Express Yourself.” The latter was cleverly mixed with Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way,” followed by “She’s Not Me,” clearly showing Madonna’s take on the similarities between their songs.

Other standout moments included a slow, striptease version of “Like a Virgin,” and “Like a Prayer,” which got everyone in the stadium dancing and turned the place into a massive party.

I was incredibly impressed by Madonna’s energy and appearance. I’ve had previous discussions about her and the process of aging, so I won’t delve deeply into that here, but seeing her perform made me want to hit the gym more often!

Overall, it was an unforgettable show, and I’m thrilled to have experienced it live.
