Master the Art of Packing for an Extended 3-Month Adventure!

I’ve often talked about how I pack and create small capsule wardrobes to get a lot of outfit combinations for a holiday. But what about packing for a three-month trip with various activities across two continents in different climates?

The key is to create mini capsules for each activity you plan to do. In my case, these include:
– Walking around town and sightseeing
– Working at my desk
– Shopping
– Celebrating my birthday
– Going out for dinner
– Exploring new cities on foot
– Taking a language course in a Spanish beach town with my son
– Roadtripping in Canada and the US
– Bloggers meetups in Vancouver and New York
– Wandering through forests and hiking in the US
– Playing tennis
– Doing yoga
– Exploring New York
– Fashion shows

As you can see, the list of activities is quite extensive, and each requires different clothing. Packing just one outfit per activity isn’t practical for someone who likes variety like me. Packing light, in this instance, isn’t feasible.

However, it’s essential to consider each activity and ensure you have the basics covered. I packed:
– Sports shoes
– Tennis attire
– Yoga clothes
– Comfortable walking shoes
– High heels for evenings
– Beachwear
– Work essentials
– Casual outfits
– Dressier outfits

I gathered my favorite clothes, mainly in neutrals like whites, blues, and greys with some reds, which are easy to mix and match. Instead of planning each outfit meticulously, I just packed as many favorite pieces as I could fit.

Accessories become crucial when you rely on neutrals, as they add color, variety, and a personal touch to your outfits. So, I packed a good selection of accessories to keep things fun and stylish while traveling.

We all have our own packing styles, but I’ve learned that packing too lightly doesn’t work for me unless absolutely necessary. I remember a backpacking trip where I skipped packing lipstick and regretted it every day. I felt awful in my dull practical clothes.

Packing light is essential for avoiding back strain, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of feeling good or inspired. I now always make sure to bring items that make me feel special.

This trip requires a variety of clothing, so traveling light isn’t really an option. Fortunately, most of my travels will be by car or stays will be in one place for a longer time. I’ll use different suitcase sizes and sometimes split my stuff into two suitcases to keep things manageable.

Yes, I might have overpacked, but it’s sales season for summer clothes, which I need year-round. I like to shop at this time of year but also wanted to ensure I didn’t HAVE to buy anything out of necessity while traveling.

Everything is packed, so there aren’t any pictures of my packed items, but I’ll share my looks regularly on the site and Instagram.

One example from my travel wardrobe is a mint green tunic that pairs well with capris, leggings, and pants. It looks unique from different angles and the draping is perfect with simple leggings. While I initially paired it with heels, it will look just as good with my flat white slingbacks.

Adding red accessories makes the look more vibrant and stylish.

I’ll continue posting updates daily and sharing my adventures on Instagram. I’m excited for the next three months!
