If you’ve been reading this site, you’ll know that I love wearing a short dress over pants. It’s a great way to wear leggings if you want to be super comfortable or dress very casually.

I needed a very casual outfit for my son’s tennis tournament. There’s no point in being overdressed when everyone else is in shorts and t-shirts. But if you enjoy having fun with your wardrobe and don’t mind standing out, you don’t have to stick to the same shorts and t-shirts.
Sometimes, you need to think a bit creatively and put in a little extra effort.
My outfit had to meet these requirements:
– Very cool, because it’s super hot and humid in Singapore, and I’d be outside all day.
– Comfortable, as I’d be sitting on benches. There’s no point wearing something fancy or restrictive.
– Somewhat sporty, to match the event vibe. In my opinion, leggings fit the bill.
– Fun, because even for casual events, there’s no need for boring clothes.
I usually don’t wear leggings, as I find them too casual and too body-hugging. I prefer skinny jeans or tapered trousers for a better overall silhouette. But for this situation, leggings were perfect.
I chose below-the-knee leggings because they are cooler and most flattering (I don’t own long white leggings). I bought these white leggings with draped knees because I find them more flattering.
To add some color to my otherwise black, grey, and white outfit, I accessorized with a bit of red. Just a little splash of color makes a big difference. A graphical bag added some texture and pattern, making the outfit more interesting.
And there you have it—a comfortable, cool, hip, sporty, and fun outfit.
While I generally prefer dressier looks these days, this outfit was perfect for the occasion. It’s also great for holidays as it doesn’t wrinkle and is comfy for exploring.
