Transform Your Look with Simple Adjustments!

One of the hottest topics during our recent style challenge was all about silhouettes. Creating a flattering silhouette that complements your body shape is key to looking great.

Take this yellow skirt I found at Cos as a good example. I absolutely loved its color and A-line cut, but I had one problem—it was too short. I fixed this by getting a larger size and having a tailor adjust it to knee-length, which is the length I prefer for skirts.

The only drawback was that the skirt sat on my hips, which isn’t ideal for my body type as I have a long torso and short legs. This made my torso look even longer. However, you can easily balance this out by choosing the right tops. For this skirt, I found that leaving tops untucked worked best.

In a comparison, the outfit on the left with a white top tucked in looks okay, but the one on the right creates a much nicer silhouette for me. The higher waistline makes my legs look longer and gives the impression of a taller, slimmer figure. It’s a small change that makes a big difference, even though both outfits are quite similar.

I paired the outfit with my brown Balenciaga bag, but a pink, orange, or red bag would have looked great too. My Chie Mihara shoes add a fun pop of color and texture to the otherwise minimalistic outfit. I also matched them with a necklace in similar colors for a coordinated look.

Have you experimented with silhouettes recently? Which of your outfits could benefit from a small tweak to look better?
