While looking for an alternative to my other Preen skirt, I stumbled upon this flowery one from Preen. It caught my eye because it was my size and seemed to be the same model and fabric as my current skirt, which I really love.
I decided to buy the skirt, and I’m thrilled with it. The fabric is stretchable cotton, just like my other skirt, and it fits perfectly.
This successful purchase inspired a new shopping strategy for adding more high-quality items to my wardrobe.
Even though flowers usually aren’t my thing, this skirt is different. It has these cool graphical stripes at the front and back that make the print unique. My husband found the stripes odd, but to me, they add character and give me more options to play with colors. I like pairing it with red and might try yellow sometime too.
The back of the skirt has more prominent red tones and a nice gradient effect at the bottom, which I absolutely love.
Lately, I’ve been into mixing different shades of blue, so I paired the skirt with an old dark denim jacket. It gives the outfit a casual, daytime look.
This outfit is a great mix of high-end and low-end pieces. The blouse is an affordable find from H&M, which I initially bought for a safari in Namibia but now use in many other outfits.
For accessories, I highlighted the red with matching shoes, a bag, sunglasses, and a bracelet. I kept my necklace subtle and neutral.
I’ve worn the skirt for an evening event combined with a blue leather top, again using red accessories—red bag, bracelet, and dressier shoes.
I have so many more outfit ideas for this skirt and can’t wait to wear it more often!
Have you been mixing high-end with low-end or old with new pieces lately?
