As the colder and darker days roll in for those of you in the Northern hemisphere, it’s time to bring out your coats again. I’ve always been a fan of adding a splash of color to your outerwear to brighten up the dreary streets. Take, for instance, Lorraine who found a vibrant coat in a consignment store in New York. It pairs perfectly with patterned pants and can be matched with a pink top, though it would also look fantastic with a black or white blouse.
If you find the hot pink a little too bold, try toning it down with a striking black and white scarf. For those who aren’t ready for such a vibrant shade, consider a more subdued color or a muted pattern. Last year, I loved my light gray coat because, while still being neutral, it stood out nicely among the darker coats.
That said, I’m not suggesting you get rid of your dark neutral coats completely because they are incredibly versatile. However, adding a colorful coat to your wardrobe can make dressing up more fun and can lift both your spirits and those of people around you.
