Mastering the Art of Minimalist Fashion: Looking Chic with a Simplified Wardrobe

There’s a trend with bloggers and Instagrammers sporting new outfits every day, which might make you feel like you need a huge wardrobe. I’ve gone in the opposite direction, wearing essentially the same outfit in various forms. This approach works well for my style and body type and makes me feel good.

Why stick to a formula?

1. Save Money
Overspending on clothes isn’t my thing. I’d rather save money for experiences, sports, and overall well-being. It’s important to buy fewer, quality items of clothing and get plenty of use out of them.

2. Avoid Waste
We have too much stuff, and our landfills are overflowing. After watching the documentary “The True Cost,” I realized the importance of doing more with less. Instead of packed closets, we should focus on simple outfits that work for us.

3. Gain Time
As a busy entrepreneur, I don’t have time to spend hours shopping and picking out outfits. Using a simple and convenient dressing formula saves time.

4. Comfort & Happiness Ensured
While I love trying new things, I also believe in sticking to what works. My dressing formula makes me feel comfortable, happy, and stylish. It might not be the most adventurous or fashionable, but it lets me feel good about myself.

My Dressing Formula:
Skinny 7/8 pants + unique top + nice shoes + accessories

Skinny Pants:
I love my skinny pants from Zara, which I’ve worn in many casual settings. I have them in multiple colors, but I use the white and black ones the most. They’re comfortable, flattering, and versatile, suitable for dressing up or down.

Top:
I prefer tops that stand out more than your average t-shirt. Asymmetrical tops or ones with prints are my go-to. In cooler weather, a nice striped top with a blazer works perfectly. A good top can make you look great with minimal effort.

Shoes:
These pants go well with all sorts of shoes. Sneakers are ideal for days with a lot of walking, booties for colder days, ballerina flats for comfort and style, block heels for a polished look, and wedges for a casual chic appearance.

Accessories:
Accessories complete any outfit. I always wear a necklace, bracelet, and recently, earrings. Sunglasses are a must when I’m outside. They truly make any ordinary outfit special, so don’t skip them!

Do I Wear Other Outfits?
Of course, I wear different outfits too, especially for special events or whenever I have the time. But having a few ready-to-go outfit formulas is incredibly helpful, particularly when you feel like you have nothing to wear or feel overwhelmed by a huge wardrobe.

Using Capsule Wardrobes
Along with having a few reliable outfit formulas, it’s helpful to create a capsule wardrobe. This means having a collection of clothes that all work together, allowing you to mix and match and create many outfits from just a few pieces.

Disclaimer: I’m not a minimalist and still have plenty of clothes and accessories. But doing more with less is a goal for me this year.
