Top Clothing Stores Tailored for Women with an Apple Body Shape

If you’re an apple-shaped woman, you know how challenging it can be to find clothes that fit well and flatter your shape. While most designers don’t cater to our body type, there are still a few places where you can find quality items that not only fit well but also look great. Here are some of my favorite spots to shop.

J. Jill
J.Jill is hands down my favorite place to shop. They have soft silhouettes and plenty of elastic waist pants and skirts. Don’t worry, these elastic waists are designed to be both comfortable and barely noticeable.

No matter what you’re looking for—jeans, leggings, or something in between—J.Jill is my go-to spot. Their jeans feature stretchy, traditional waistbands, and their soft cotton knit pants also have elastic waists. The fabric in all their pants moves with you, making sitting or kneeling super comfortable. Their leggings are made from some of the softest fabrics I’ve ever felt!

When it comes to skirts, J.Jill doesn’t disappoint. Their skirts have wide waistbands enclosed in cotton, and the fabric is stretchy yet not tight, maintaining a flattering pencil silhouette. They frequently update their colors and patterns to stay on-trend.

Finding tops that work for our shape is easy at J.Jill too. I love their ponte knit tunics which skim your body rather than cling to it. The stores are well-organized and easy to navigate, with friendly staff who are always ready to help, whether you need to hang up clothes in the changing room or switch out sizes.

White House Black Market
White House Black Market is another favorite. Their staff are well-trained, and if you need help figuring out your style, you can trust their suggestions. They offer a variety of pants with stretchy waistbands and fabrics. Besides pants, their sweaters are top-notch—high-quality knits that are both flattering and low on pilling.

White House Black Market also excels in jackets. They have beautifully cut, stylish jackets, though their in-store sizes only go up to size 14. They do offer size 16 online, so it’s worth a look if you fall within that size range.

Loft
Loft doesn’t always cater to apple shapes, especially with pants. You have to search a bit for tops, but you can find a variety of stylish sweaters. Their tops often have some structure so they don’t just hang like a tent. Their patterns are always beautiful and on-trend, and sometimes I just go there for a scarf to freshen up my wardrobe.

Maurices
Although Maurices often targets younger women, they have a great selection of work pants that offer different waist sizes, designed for comfort. Their reasonably priced jackets fit my size 16 top well, making it easy to find trendy pieces without breaking the bank.

These are the main places I’ve found that offer a decent selection for apple-shaped bodies. Department stores and boutique shops sometimes have good options as well. When exploring a new store, I look at the staff’s shapes and sizes to gauge if I might find flattering outfits there.
